(UK News) The Ford Focus has been declared the top green used car in this year's What Car? Green Awards.

Focus has already enjoyed huge success as an award-winning used car. It was voted Best Used Small Family Car in 2007, 2008 and 2009 due to its good all-round performance, with What Car? judges commenting on its driveability, practicality and sensible running costs. Now, the influential publication has made the Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Style its Used Green Car of the Year.

Joe Greenwell, chairman, Ford of Britain said: "The 64mpg Ford Focus 1.6 diesel was What Car?'s overall Green Car of the Year two years ago and to be a winner again in 2010 is testimony to the car continuing to be a leader in its class for fuel economy and CO2 emissions".

What Car? editor-in-chief Steve Fowler said: "The Ford Focus is good to drive, reliable and environmentally friendly, and it proves green used cars don’t have to cost the earth."

The What Car? Best Used Green Car award 2010 went to the 2008 "08" registered five-door Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Style. The same model was the overall Green Car of the Year in 2008 – the inaugural year for the awards.
